*Observation and verses taken from Psalms 73

But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked (2-3).

At times, it is easy to be distracted by the world and those living for its' pleasure. In this text, we see that even David was distracted in such a way. Distractions will come... the question is whether we will allow them to take us away from God.

When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to me till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny (16-17).

By grace, distraction can be an instrument to draw us closer into the presence and perspective of our Creator. Every moment, Jesus welcomes us to follow him in this adventure called life. As we confess our weakness and tendency to distraction, we submit ourselves further to his lordship and leading, ultimately taking on our true identity as children of God.

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds (23-28).

We know too well what life looks like through our personal perspectives- the distractions can be many. The goal we must strive for is surrender. As we lay down our perspective to take on heaven's, we find contentment in our calling, while also walking in God's mission of calling those around us to their potential in Christ.
